About

Willow baskets: designed and made in the traditional manner using a variety of attractive, natural coloured willow and some hedgerow material when available. Used for laundry baskets, shopping baskets, wastepaper baskets, table baskets, and so on.

KibseysKibsey - Traditional Cherry Baskets I made these traditional cherry/plum picking baskets for a number of Kent fruit farmers. The baskets have a flat back and spaces for a waist belt. They are made in two sizes and have a very strong handle to take the weight of the fruit. The weaving material is buff willow and the base is woven so that there are no sharp ends on the inside in order to protect the fruit.

Plant supports: for runner beans and sweet peas, made with wild willow harvested in West Sussex. Sizes vary from 4'-9' tall, and up to 18" diameter.

Butcher BikeUnusual Willow Work: I have made and repaired a variety of unusual items such as: specialist bike baskets for Moulton bikes, and tradesmen's delivery bikes, restoration of the basketwork on antique dog-carts (see left), prams, cribs and moses baskets. Also, historical and re-enactment items, including a winnowing fan and willow shields.

Rush seating: I used freshwater Dutch or English rush to re-seat chairs and stools in the traditional way. The seats are fully stuffed with balls of dry rush to make them comfortable and long lasting (see photo, left). Site hosted by Blot
